This paper presents an updated summary of the American Academy of Pediatrics Committee on Nutrition on lactose intolerance in infants, children, and adolescents. It identifies different conditions which can result in lactase deficiency, which in turn creates intolerance to lactose. The paper reviews age of onset of lactase deficiency.
