The United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) proposed the development of a Codex standard for Ready to Use Foods (RUF) for the management of acutely malnourished children. UNICEF has prepared a discussion paper on a standard for Ready to Use Foods for presentation and discussion at the 36th session of the Codex Committee on Nutrition and Foods for Special Dietary Uses (CCNFSDU).

The session will be held November 24-28, 2014 in Bali, Indonesia.

Dairy for Global Nutrition stongly supports the proposed Codex standard to guarantee the safety and efficacy of Ready to Use Foods so they meet their intended use of managing acutely malnourished children, one of the consumer groups of these products.
